Thomas Bartlett was a well-known and popular local player who had a couple of spells at the club although he only made the first-team in his first season.
A hard-working and bustling type he was nicknamed “knocker”. He was a good player who rather shaded his usefulness by his fondness with gallery play.
Tom joined from Arthur’s Hill following their disbandment in September 1893 and made his debut at outside-left in December. His other games were at inside-right and he scored a second-half hat-trick in the 5-1 victory over Lincoln City on New Year’s Day.
He also played for Northumberland in Inter County matches against Cumberland and Durham.
Bartlett moved to Willington Athletic in December 1894 and although he returned to the club, he didn't appear in the first eleven before leaving again.
