John Barr was signed from Grantham Rovers, for whom he had been captain in the previous season. He was a well-built youth with plenty of height and speed, although rather weak in kicking.
A right-half-back, his only appearance for the first team was in the second game, a 3-1 defeat against Burton Swifts. He moved to Ashington in the summer.
